Motor Claim Expert is an independent educational publication about motor-insurance claims in India. Our purpose is simple: to help you understand how motor-insurance policies and claims actually work — especially in the stressful moments after an accident, a rejection or a delay — so you can make confident, well-informed decisions.

We explain the rules, the process and the practical reality of claims in plain language, drawing on real, hands-on experience of how insurers assess and settle them. We are not an insurer, a broker or a law firm, and we do not sell policies; we are here to inform you, not to transact with you.

Who we are

Motor Claim Expert is written and run by Raju Patvekar, the author and proprietor of this website. Raju is IRDAI Licentiate Examination Qualified and brings 21+ years of experience in motor-insurance claims, specialising in automobile claims.

Over his career he has worked with several of India’s leading general insurers — including Liberty General Insurance, Magma HDI General Insurance, Future Generali India Insurance, Bajaj Allianz General Insurance and ICICI Lombard General Insurance — investigating, processing and managing a high volume of claims. His work has spanned damage assessment, policy interpretation, negotiating settlements, risk management and leading claims teams. It is this claims-side experience — knowing how a file is actually evaluated and decided — that shapes everything we publish.

What we do

We turn a complex, jargon-heavy subject into clear, usable guidance. On Motor Claim Expert you will find explainers on how claims are assessed and paid, guides to the most common reasons claims are rejected and how policyholders respond, walkthroughs of the dispute-resolution process, and practical resources such as checklists and templates — all focused on the Indian motor-insurance context.

How we work

We research each topic from primary sources — policy wordings, IRDAI regulations and circulars, consumer-court and tribunal practice, and established industry procedure — and we write for people first, search engines second. We do not invent figures, rules or guarantees, and where an answer depends on your specific policy or facts, we say so rather than over-generalise. You can read more about our standards in our Editorial Policy.

Our independence

We are independent. We are not owned by, or acting for, any insurer or intermediary, and we do not sell insurance. The website is supported by advertising, which never influences our editorial judgment. Our only loyalty is to the reader trying to understand and resolve a claim fairly.

An important note

Everything we publish is educational and general in nature. It is not legal, financial or professional insurance advice, and your own policy wording and insurer’s terms always take precedence. Please read our Disclaimer for the full position, and consult your insurer or a qualified professional where your situation calls for it.
